Hearing Program

We, as Lions of District 27-E2, are providing hearing aids to financially needy individuals in our district though our WLF (Wisconsin Lions Foundation) Hearing Aid Program.

The program helps Wisconsin's needy individuals who 1) are hard of hearing, 2) cannot afford to purchase a hearing instrument, and 3) do not qualify for any existing state-funded financial assistance programs.

The program's success relies on collaborative efforts and generosity of three groups:   1) Wisconsin Lions, 2) hearing health care professionals and 3) hearing aid manufacturers. Our WLF has made arrangements with hearing professionals to provide the service of a) an ear mold, b) first package of batteries plus c) honoring the hearing aid's warranty against defects and d) follow-up visits within the first year, for a $200 dispensing fee paid by our WLF program.

The hearing aids are purchased from a manufacturer at a much reduced cost. The style, brand and model of hearing aid is determined by the hearing professional - whichever is most appropriate for the recipient's hearing need, within the arrangements we have made with manufacturers.

The cost of a hearing evaluation is not covered by our program.  That is the responsibility of the recipient, unless covered by the recipient's health insurance. We also do not pay for hearing aids which were fitted or purchased before authorization.

An application can be obtained by calling WLF toll-free at 1-877-463-6953, getting it off the WLF Website, http://www.wlf.info/Hearing%20Projects.htm#Hearing%20Aid, or by clicking on the following: Hearing Program.

Donations by individuals (Lions members and others) can be deductible for IRS purposes, if paid to our District 27-E2 Lions Foundation, Inc. and designated for hearing aids.
